Percy Harvin Placed on IR

Big news came out today with Vikings #1 wideout Percy Harvin being placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury. Now, this is terrible news for guys relying on Harvin to come back for the playoffs, but its great news for his future and for anyone planning on hanging onto him in a keeper league. This guy’s strength is his speed, agility, and elusiveness, so any lingering ankle stability is debilitating to a guy like him. And with reports saying his ankle injury had multi-ligament involvement make this move look even better. Let the kid rest, rehab the right way, and come back next season as dynamic as ever. Long term, so long as he responds well to therapy and treatment, he should be just fine. Anyone looking to hang onto him in a keeper league should do so without reservation.

Now who replaces him in the interim? Jaruis Wright has been the guy in his stead. He’s coming off a horrible one catch outing and is at the mercy of Christian Ponder’s effectiveness, but he’s had a couple solid games in place of Harvin. One other non-Viking that may be available in your league is Andrew Hawkins. He came back last week and looked very solid. He’s a slot receiver type who gets a healthy share of targets, especially when AJ Green is double covered. I like him this week as a good WR3 or Flex.
